While conventional waterproofing systems, such as bitumen, are applied above the floor slab, the Blue Tank begins below the slab. This offers significant advantages, especially in new construction and in cases of “non-pressing seepage water,” as the floor slab itself protects the seal from damage caused by subsequent trades. In addition, as the slab hardens, it bonds with the Geficon membrane, creating a monolithic moisture barrier. The result: the Blue Tank is the safest and most cost-effective solution on the market.
Due to the capillary effect, penetrating moisture is often transported into the upper floors, where it eventually leads to mold growth and gradual damage to the building fabric. The consequences are expensive, extensive remediation work and, in some cases, negative effects on health.

The Blue Tub is ideal for non-pressurised seepage water (water impact class W-1E in accordance with DIN 18533:2017).
In residential basements, the Blue Tub can provide additional moisture protection together with the White Tub (waterproof concrete) – particularly where there is (partially) pressurised water (W-2E or higher). This keeps the interior of the basement dry and usable, even close to the walls.
Even in renovations, the Blue Tub provides reliable protection against moisture. The Geficon is installed in an L-shape at the edge of the floor, and the Blue Tub is attached to the wall using flexible adhesive – ready for plastering. The floor surface is loosely covered with Geficon, overlapping with the L-shape, after which the screed can be applied.

By connecting the Blue Tank with the hardened floor slab, a monolithic barrier is created that reliably prevents moisture penetration. At the same time, the Blue Tank can be installed much faster and therefore at significantly lower cost than conventional solutions.
For illustration: one square meter of Blue Tank costs the builder roughly the same as one square meter of Black Tank (market reference price: approx. 5 euros). However, the Blue Tank can be installed about seven times faster and does not require prior knowledge or special qualifications from the installer. This leads to substantial cost advantages, especially when covering large areas. In addition, installation is independent of weather conditions, which completely avoids construction delays.
Moisture damage is one of the biggest issues in modern construction. It is estimated to account for around 60% of consequential costs caused by structural damage. Moisture-related defects in the building fabric often only appear some time after completion. Rectifying such issues later is usually complex and therefore costly. These types of damage not only burden building owners and occupants but can also become a financial risk for construction companies and architects, as they may be held liable for consequential damages. Inadequate planning and outdated, complicated sealing methods—often carried out improperly due to time pressure and a shortage of skilled workers—are the most common causes of structural damage from penetrating moisture.
The film demonstrates how the blue polyethylene sealing membranes are laid on the blinding layer before concreting. It clearly shows how quick and straightforward the installation is, since the sheets do not need to be welded.
