3,500 m² of Geficon® for the Emergency Response Storage Facility in Ochtrup

The new emergency response storage facility with an integrated rescue station in Ochtrup is being waterproofed with Geficon® UDB bonded waterproofing membrane across a total area of approximately 3,500 m². The project is being carried out on behalf of the District of Steinfurt.

The waterproofing in the rescue station area was completed in 2025. More recently, the first section of the emergency response storage facility, together with additional adjoining areas, has been installed. The current construction progress can be seen in the images, where the completed areas are highlighted in green. The significantly larger construction phase will begin shortly.

Reliable waterproofing beneath the foundation slab

Geficon® UDB is installed beneath the foundation slab, protecting the building against rising ground moisture and non-pressurised water. The polyethylene waterproofing membrane, laminated with fleece on both sides, forms a permanent bond with the concrete as it cures.

An integrated adhesive strip along one edge ensures secure sealing of overlap joints and enables fast, reliable installation on site. Because the membrane is located beneath the foundation slab, it is also protected from damage caused by subsequent construction activities.

The tested Geficon® system provides a high level of waterproofing reliability with perfectly matched system components. This simplifies both planning and installation while reducing installation effort and eliminating additional work steps, such as the need for a separate masonry damp-proof course.
